aR GAMEPLAY
Mainframe
The player will send in a virus into the shows system and attempt to take over using a top down room projection. Each room requires the player to ward of security for a period of time to take over control of the system. Once they reach a certain level of control, the Mainframe is revealed where the player will fight a final wave.
What They See
A 3D projected arcade cabinet with the hacking game installed on it. Once started, they will see an arena room with four exits that security will predominantly use to get to the player.
Mechanics
Move to avoid security and projectiles as well as to traverse the room.
In conjunction with movement, the player will shoot in the opposite direction to destroy security.
Activate abilities to assist the VR player.
The player must accumulate control by taking over rooms. This control is used to activate abilities of all kinds and grants the player access to the mainframe when at 100%. The player loses 10% of all their control when defeated.
Win State
The VR player survives the game or the AR player captures the mainframe.
Fail State
The VR player is eliminated.
Level of Control
The player gains control by capturing ‘frames’ or rooms that give the player a % of control of the whole system. 100% is equal to all rooms in the level apart from the boss room or ‘mainframe’ being under the player’s control. The player can spend their accumulated control to gain abilities to give to the VR player, but losing control of already cleared areas in the process. Alongside this, the more the AR player reveals themselves by helping the VR player, the more security gets put in to stop the player, including active debuffs for the AR player called ‘Patches’.
